What Jesus says about End Times
Jesus was the greatest Prophet of all, therefore we should study what He said about the End Times and compare it to what we observe today.
“Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your own people. Listen carefully to everything he tells you.’” Acts 3:22 NLT
“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 NLT
The disciples asked Jesus “what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” Matthew 24:3b
“And Jesus answered and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you.’” Matthew 24:4
This is extremely important to note since it is the first thing that Jesus says - DO NOT BE DECEIVED!
[We see deception all around us through the media and government censuring and propaganda. Even the church is changing with the culture and participating in abominations. With the oncoming of Artificial Intelligence, manipulation is reaching a whole new level and it is only by the Holy Spirit that we can discern the truth.]
Then Jesus goes into more details about events that have already passed and continues:
“Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:11-13) “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” Luke 21:28
After explaining the details up until the end He tells the Parable of the Fig Tree, “Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place.” Luke 21:29-32
Almost all prophecy teachers believe that the fig tree represents Israel. (See Joel 1:6-7) It is the only nation to cease from existing and then be reestablished, which happened in one day as foretold in the Bible on May 14th 1948. (See Isaiah 66:7-8, Ezekiel 37:22) Therefore the oldest people that generation are now 75 years old. Jesus said “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place.”
Following the Parable of the Fig Tree He continues: “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself.” (Matthew 24:36 NLT) He is not saying that we cannot discern the approximate time of His return, otherwise He would not have given us any clues or told us to watch. DO NOT BE DECEIVED!
Jesus continues: “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.”( Matthew 24:37-39 NLT) Here by studying prophecy we have a hidden reference to the rapture. Noah was “taken up” above the flood that destroyed the Earth. So will we be, those who know Jesus. He clarifies: “Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.” Matthew 24:40-41 NLT (Not all will be taken up)
“So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” Matthew 24:42-44 NLT
“A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns. But what if the servant is evil and thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’ and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk? The master will return unannounced and unexpected, and he will cut the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 24:45-51 NLT
Next in Matthew 25:1-13 NLT He tells the Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids which also contains hidden prophetic meaning. Those of us who know Jesus are considered his bride and when we accepted Him it was as if we became engaged to Him. In the Jewish culture, the bride never knew when the groom was coming for her. It was not immediate. In the parable only 5 of the 10 were taken because only 5 had enough oil, which is symbolic with the Holy Spirit. It is a picture of the Rapture and not all those who are engaged to Jesus will be taken, only those that have the Holy Spirit in them. This is a very disturbing and grim image, since we can perceive the reference of the brides being supposedly those in the church.
“But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’ But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’ So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.” Matthew 25:10-13
“Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36 NLT
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36 NKJV
